I don’t know about you but I’m really looking forward to a long, relaxing 4th of July weekend. The one thing I’m not looking forward to though is exercising control around all the food we’ll be having! Without a doubt, I know I’ll be asked why I’m not having a second glass of wine or why I’d only like a small piece of cake. I’ve already coined a response—I’m going to say, “I’m just having a little bit now and I figure if I want more later, I can always go back.” What do you plan on saying to potential food pushers? Share your tips by posting a comment!

I was very lucky this 4th of July! My mother in law who hosted the meal, recently joined both my sister in law and myself on a low carb diet, due to sugar/carbohydrate issues that we have, as she herself is prediabetic. From beginning to end she and my sister in law spread out a wonderful and completely “legal” feast and I was amazed and inspired! They proved that good for you food can also be good. Perhaps all it takes is for one person to start a new trend for family gatherings.

Hello everyone at AllYou! Thought I would check in and see how this year is going…the 4th was sooo hard: cookies, brownies, cake…I just kept picturing myself in my wedding dress and I made it through with minimal damage. Two months until the wedding and I have one inch to go before I can fit into that dress! Good luck to everyone this year and I will be sending pictures from the wedding!!

Jan, hi! Great to hear from you! Only two months to go, woooo! I’m sure you’re looking forward to it. And only one inch, that’s fantastic. Please do keep us posted—we would LOVE to see wedding photos. Take care, Lindsay

A simple “no thanks!” did the trick! Well, that and a ridiculous amount of willpower. Thankfully there was watermelon and grilled chicken to tide me over :)
